Quality Management
The management of the home place a strong emphasis on the highest quality service possible for all its residents. The home believes that no matter how good its present services, there is always room for improvement. Our quality system sets out the values, principles and policies that underpin the home's approach to quality.
A key component of the quality system is to gain patient representative feedback on our service and both informal and formal meetings are held to discuss this. We also hold an annual patient survey where all patients have the opportunity to provide constructive feedback on the care service.
As part of our quality improvement programme, in December 2006, the home achieved the Investors In People Award, this has recently been reviewed and we are proud of the committment of our leadership team and the feedback from the IIP Auditor.
In December 2008 the home achieved the Dignity in Care accreditation, which rewards homes for good practice.
Comments and Feedback
It is the aim of the home to provide a safe and homely environment and deliver a high standard of care to each individual as stated in our statement of purpose and philosophy of care. In the event we fail to meet our objectives you must not hesitate to let us know. Comments and suggestions about the service we provide are welcome, if you feel we do something well or we could make improvements to the quality of life, you must tell us your views.
The Manager has an open door policy and welcomes opportunities to discuss any concerns you may have. Residents and relatives are encouraged to raise any concerns immediately with the Manager or Nurse in Charge in order that they can be dealt with as quickly as possible
Quality Reviews
Residents meetings are held quarterly and all residents and their representatives are asked to complete a quality review form periodically. Soon quality review forms will be available on this website to either download or complete on-line.
Developing for the Future
The management team ensures that the skill mix of the care team is appropriate for the range and diversity of the residents care needs.
The home is committed to implementing and maintaining a robust and rigorous development process that will ensure, through the creation of a learning environment, each individual and team will continually learn and improve performance that will increase contribution and ensure staff will fulfil the aims of the home and meet the changing needs of residents.
The purpose of the development process is to provide our people with a structured learning environment that will enable them to grow and develop throughout their careers. Our aim is to create a learning organisation where everyone takes responsibility for team and individual performance and development.
The process also aims to provide home management with a mechanism to educate and evaluate employees in order to ensure that the skills and skill mix of the team is maintained at an adequate level to support the established and expected quality of service.
With our own on-site training room (shown above) we are able to develop staff quickly to meet the changing needs of residents. Our training room provides an environment where staff can learn and develop away from the daily activities of the home. The room is equipped with an electronic projector, overhead projector,TV and DVD system, white board and flip charts, and can accommodate 12 people with additional space for demonstrations and on-hands training.
